Benefits of Sauna Therapy
Sauna therapy offers a wide range of health benefits, many of which are supported by clinical research:
Detoxification
Heat induces a deep sweat, helping the body eliminate heavy metals, chemicals, and other toxins through the skin.
Improved Circulation
The heat promotes vasodilation, improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues, which may aid in healing and cardiovascular health.
Pain Relief
Traditional saunas can help reduce chronic pain, including conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and muscle soreness by relaxing muscles and reducing inflammation.
Relaxation and Stress Reduction
Heat exposure stimulates endorphin release and relaxes muscles, reducing stress and improving sleep.
Weight Loss
Sweating and elevated heart rate during sauna use can slightly increase calorie burn-similar to light exercise.
Improved Immune Function
Regular sauna use may boost white blood cell production, supporting immune resilience.
Enhanced Recovery
Athletes often use infrared saunas for muscle recovery, as heat increases blood flow and helps flush lactic acid and other byproducts of exertion.
Heat shock proteins (HSPs)
HSPs are a group of specialized proteins that are produced by cells in response to sauna exposure. They act as molecular chaperones, helping to protect and repair damaged proteins, maintain cellular health and encourage cellular autophagy.
What can I expect from a PEMF session?
Our HUGU PEMF system consists of two, full-body length mats. For optimal results you can sandwich yourself between the two mats while in a comfortable, seated position in our recliner. We also have options should you have a localized injury such as an elbow, knee, or foot injury. You may choose to experience a full-body healing experience or simply target an injured area. Once you carefully select your desired intensity level, the rhythmic, pulsing waves begin to soothe, relax and recharge you.
How does PEMF work?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy utilizes soothing pulsed electromagnetic fields to stimulate and heal the body’s cells. PEMF uses electrical energy to direct a series of magnetic pulses through injured tissues and cells. The magnetic fields help to stimulate muscle repair by up-regulating a tissue repair protein and increasing uptake of oxygen, nutrients, electrolytes and ions into tissues.
How long is a PEMF session?
PEMF sessions are typically 12 minutes in length. Based on individual goals and recommendations from a healthcare professional, sessions can increase to 24 or 36 minutes.
Our traditional sauna can achieve 230 degrees F / 110 degrees C.
What is contrast therapy?
Contrast therapy is when an individual experiences a sauna session and then, immediately after, experiences either a cold plunge or a cryotherapy session.
